Here are some of the hand-picked highlights:

Opening keynote with John Sietsma from Unity. Unity software is about the most important tool in the XR maker’s toolkit and is now a central component of that of the filmmaker’s. Find out how Unity is being used in the film and XR industries, what technologies are changing, how creative content is made and which new skills are needed (Fri 12 July, 10am).

John will also be taking two amazing half day workshops – one looking at Unity for VR and another looking at Unity for filmmakers. You will not get a better – or cheaper – professional development opportunity right from the source, so we urge filmmakers and screen artists of all types to attend.

XR:WA is also welcoming Microsoft’s HoloLens champion and Microsoft’s Mixed Reality Regional Solutions and Partners Lead, Lawrence Crumpton. Lawrence will be providing a keynote on Friday 12th at 1.45pm as he demystifies Mixed Reality and why it matters. You won’t get much closer to the source in Australia, so don’t miss this once-off opportunity.

XR:WA is the most significant screen industry and professional development event to take place in WA for years. Gathering together screen artists, developers, craftspeople, campuses and businesses, it provides the most intensive professional opportunity for the entire WA screen sector seen for a long time.

Sessions include those dealing with writingdirectingsound designphotogrammetryintellectual propertyVR fundamentalscrime scene VRarchitecture and more.

If you want to experience the special research facility that is Curtin University’s The HIVE and haven’t registered, you must! It’s fascinating. Delegate registration is here, and then here for the Welcome drinks.

Events are available to attend on a per-session basis, but if you want to experience all of what XR:WA has to offer, you can register for a single day or 3-days for access all areas. Registration includes morning and afternoon tea, lunch and evening networking drinks. Register here.

If tabletop games are your pleasure, we have three nights of beer and boardgames at Studio Startup. This is free but the space is small! Proceedings start at 7.30pm, so be early.
